Have you considered what would happen if there was a fire or flood in your home. Fact is, wills and other important documents wouldn’t last five minutes, so if you store these documents in a folder, ensure it’s watertight and waterproof or use a fireproof safe.
But security isn’t necessarily all about safety. Getting your wills and other important papers together in one easy-to-access place is also an important part of the process. Admittedly, doing this properly can be somewhat time consuming, and even though the thought of drafting these documents is not the most pleasant of things to do, it should provide peace of mind knowing that all your papers are in order and accessible.
As a footnote: For those who wish to draft their own free wills, simply follow the law in your state regarding do it yourself last wills and testaments, or consult an attorney if you need further help.
