We all know that exercising is a very helpful and healthy activity and that everyone should be doing this. But what really should be the routines that should be done? Does one have to be enrolled in a gym class to be healthy? Is healthy synonymous to being expensive? Does that mean that if you do not have money, you won’t be healthy?
Of course not! In the past, there were not gyms and health and fitness centers. But a lot of people did not suffer from obesity, really. The question is, what did they do as exercise in the past? Walking and Running, what else?
First let us have a short talk about metabolism. You have to understand that there are three kinds of processes in the body when it comes to metabolism. Basal metabolism already gets rid of most of the calories (60% to 65%) we get a day. A quarter of what you eat goes to physical activity. The last 10% is for the Thermic effect of food or on digestion.
If that is the case with the metabolism in our body, running to lose weight is very possible indeed. What you will be doing is spurring this on so that it will work faster and burn all the calories quickly.
Walking to lose weight is also possible, although you would have to spend more time and wait a little longer to see actual results. However, you are still spurring on your metabolism so you do not have to worry much about this.
The point here is that, with the right knowledge about how your body functions, you know that expensive gym memberships, snooty trainers and heavy equipment can help, but you can also live without it.
